Draya Michele And Jackie Christie Are The Only ‘Wives’ Returning To ‘Basketball Wives’ LA!

Four ‘wives’ have been axed from the VH1 series Basketball Wives LA.  Sisters Laura Arenas ( 3rd from left) and Gloria Barnes (far left) , Malaysia Pargo (center), and newcomer Brooke Bailey (second from right) have been fired.  Reports surfaced weeks ago that Basketball Wives LA was struggling in the ratings.  And when series creator Shaunie O’Neal responded to a fan’s Tweet that she thought Basketball Wives LA was boring and needed to be cancelled…it became clear a change was on the horizon.

FAN: “Basketball Wives LA is boring!!!! Please cancel this show!!!! I just can’t.”

SHAUNIE O’NEAL: “how bout a complete makeover?”

Laura Govan (who is married to NBA Guard Gilbert Arenas) quickly responded to Shaunie’s comments.  Laura told Sister2Sister.Com a few days ago, that although she agreed Basketball Wives LA needed so makeover, she felt Shaunie’s comments on Twitter were a diss to the show:

“If you gonna have your name stamped on something, you should definitely support it.”

Laura went on to suggest Shaunie recast the show with real basketball wives…

“If it’s ‘Basketball Wives,’ then let’s hold this title.  At least have some basketball affiliation.  At least keep it in the group, just have an affiliation. I’ve been with my guy 12 years, regardless of marriage or not. I’ve paid my dues. Give me some people who have paid their dues.”

Days after those comments…Laura, Gloria, Malaysia, and Brooke were terminated!

Sources tell TMZ Gloria was axed from the show because she refused to let cameras document much of her life.  For example, Gloria flew to Las Vegas with fiance Matt Barnes and got married a while ago.  The couple didn’t tell producers they were eloping.  So, that real moment couldn’t be documented.

That’s what THEY SAY!  We just think producers got tired of sagging ratings and decided to axe everybody who (1) wasn’t adding to the show or, (2) whose attitude they didn’t like!  The crazy thing about all this is that TMZ announced the firings before the axed cast members were notified by producers.  That’s Hollywood for you…
